Lessons In Leadership: Stephanie Espy
Takeaways from our conversation:
You can’t be what you can’t see. The whole motivation for her book was to expose girls to fields they may not have known about before. Once they know about them, they can potentially see themselves in those fields.
Critical thinking is key. While her company, MathSP, provides math and science tutors to students, the company’s goal isn’t merely to help students pass their math and science tests. It’s to help the students build critical thinking skills that they can use in their everyday lives.
Know your audience. When addressing audiences about her book, Stephanie changes the message to suit that audience. Talking to teachers will differ from talking to parents, for instance.
